Do one thing before
you close this tab
Open your calendar and put the fifty minutes in it. A night this week, a specific hour, both of you.
This is the part that decides whether you ever run it.
People who book the night do the practice. People who plan to get around to it don't, and it isn't about wanting to — it's that an evening with nothing scheduled in it always fills with something else.
What to have ready
A room with a door
Two chairs facing each other, or a clear patch of floor. Enough space to move without hitting furniture.
Low light
One lamp or candles. Overhead lighting makes people self-conscious, which is the one thing working against you here.
Phones somewhere else
Not face down on the table. In another room, on silent. Play the audio from a speaker or laptop.
Clothes you can move and breathe in
Nothing tight at the waist. You'll be breathing into your lower belly for fifty minutes.
Water, and nothing after
Don't schedule anything for the rest of the evening. The half hour afterward is part of it.
For adults, 18 and over.
This is a practice, not therapy, and it is not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
